Rachael takes the helm at Yorkshire farming museum

THERE'S excitement down on the farm.

The flurry of activity comes with the news that Rachael Watson has been appointed as the new curator of the Yorkshire Museum of Farming.

Having studied at Hull and Newcastle Universities, Rachael then gained valuable experience with the People's History Museum in Manchester.

She has now crossed the Pennines, hoping to improve the displays and reveal the true story of farming in Yorkshire at the museum in Murton, near York.

She said: "I am very excited about this project. This museum has enormous potential, and I am looking forward to working alongside the team in developing new interactive displays, and forging closer links with other museums in the area.

"I hope to rejuvenate the collection, bringing a more up to date focus, incorporating both the past and present outlook.

"Through careful development of the collection, I hope to make it fun and appealing to a wide audience.

"Hopefully, this will inspire visitors to find out for themselves the true story of farming."
