Print workers set for axe

THE Scarborough Evening News is expected to cut all 11 jobs in its printing department.

The paper's owners, Johnston Press, has begun a 30-day consultation into plans to shut down its printing operation in Scarborough.

According to a statement in the Evening News, "the proposal involves printing the titles at alternative sites and the closure of the aged press in Scarborough".

The paper could be printed at one of the company's other presses, based in Sunderland, Leeds or Sheffield.
