Success as baker's eight all rise to the occasion

EIGHT members of staff from North Yorkshire's Thomas the Baker have all achieved success at NVQ level 3.

It is notable success because it is unusual for so many employees to simultaneously reach such a high level of attainment.

The training, which started in 2002, takes place at Leeds Thomas Danby College.

A spokesman for Thomas the Baker said: "Since the programme started, 45 employees have gained NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications and a further 12 are currently working towards achieving theirs."

The company trades mainly in North Yorkshire including the Ryedale market towns of Malton, Pickering and Helmsley.
