Tourism initiative expands

A SUCCESSFUL two-year pilot project aimed at helping tourism businesses in Ryedale has not only secured more funding to continue but it will now be rolled out further across the area.

Ryedale District Council will use the cash from Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund to develop the Ryedale Tourism Initiative, as well as push it into the eligible areas of Hambleton and rural Scarborough.

The initiative, which will be delivered by a team of RDC business support officers, helps tourism businesses access professional support, such as marketing and general business advice, which they may require to develop and grow their businesses.

Practical hands-on advice will also be available such as assisting with developing promotional leaflets and websites, understanding the importance of building customer databases and access to a specific IT grant up to a maximum of £1,500 to purchase IT hardware (subject to eligibility and application) in encouraging businesses to develop their e-business potential.

Louise Lunn, business liaison manager, said: "The previous pilot project impacted very successfully and positively by giving practical hands-on advice to help businesses recognise their potential and assist in their long-term growth.

If you think your business could be eligible for business support, contact Louise Lunn to arrange an initial meeting on (01653) 600666 ext 336 or email louise.lunn@ryedale.gov.uk.
