As many Ryedale bands have found over recent years, it is difficult to get into Fibbers' Battle of the Bands, so gaining a place is an achievement. Getting past the first round is hard enough, so what if you were to reach the semi-finals?
Simply awesome, so welcome to the world of A Dog Named Hero.
On June 22, A Dog Named Hero march on York with an army of fans and tore the competition (Delta Volts and The Federals) down with their Emo/Metal sound.
I think it is fair to say that A Dog Named Hero brought the most life to the venue on the night, with more than 60 fans coming all the way from Ryedale to support the last stand for the region's bands in the competition.
Vocalist Jake said he was "surprised" by the result, and added: "I didn't expect to get this far at all as we're a Ryedale band trying to win a York competition."
I believe this is the view held by most people from the Ryedale scene, and, as a result, this is surely the perfect opportunity for every single person in Ryedale who loves their rock to nail their colours to the cross.
Whether you are a fan of ADNH or not, it is time to support Ryedale. If A Dog Named Hero go all the way, it will finally be an eye-opener for the people of York, and surely a huge victory for the scene.
So one last time I'll say it, on July 7, every single person reading this travel to Fibbers, get a ticket, and show just what Ryedale can do.
