THE MOTORCYCLE Action Group, which held a massive rally at Duncombe Park at the weekend, has praised Lord and Lady Feversham for the key part they played in the rescue and in helping the emergency services teams.
Ann Todd, of Huddersfield, one of the organisers of the MAG rally, which attracted several thousand enthusiasts, said: "We cannot speak too highly of the wonderful help they gave, not only to the motorcyclists but to the emergency services."
She added: "Lady Feversham was cooking at 2.30am, providing very welcome meals for so many people, especially the crews of the helicopters and police. She was fantastic."
A modest Lady Feversham said she had helped to provide refreshments and suppers during the night. "The rescue services were brilliant, so well co-ordinated. Some of the motorcyclists and their families were in a state of shock and soaked."
She added: "All the emergency services were fantastic. The way they all reacted with such speed was astonishing."
While Duncombe Park itself escaped any flood damage due to being some 200ft above the valley, the park land was hard hit she said. "I feel so sorry for the farmers who have lost their stock. It is a tremendous loss."
