MALTON

Forward on February 18 were 54 store cattle and 225 store sheep.

Cattle: cows and calves to £600 per head from G F Winter and Son, Ch bullocks to £740 from A Metcalfe, Blonde X bulls to £528 from G R and C Hull, Lim bullocks to £540 from D Johnson, Lim bulls to £502 from D A Earnshaw, Lim heifers to £415 from A V Pollock, Blonde X heifers to £592 from J G Hunter, Sim bullocks to £630 from D Johnson.

Sheep: Texel lambs to £48.80 from D Bullock, Suffolk X lambs to £43.50 from D Earnshaw. Suffolk X ewes and lambs to £105 from N Hayton, Suffolk X ewes in lambs to £69 from N A Thompson.

RUSWARP

Forward on February 21 were 34 cattle and 264 sheep including 20 ewes.

Cattle: steers, medium 94.5p (93p), heavy 109.5p (103.9p), heifers, medium 108.5p (99.2p), heavy 108.5p (99.8p).

Sheep: hoggs, standard £45.50 or 116.6p (108.1p), medium £47.50 or 116.1p (109.4p), heavy £51.50 or 105.3p (100.3p), overweight £54 or 99.1p.

SELBY

Forward on February 16 were 1,909 head of stock comprising 348 cattle including 198 clean, 121 bulls, 29 cows, 941 sheep including 867 hoggs and 74 ewes, 620 pigs including 89 sows and 10 boars.

Cattle: steers light to 116.5p, medium to 123p (100.01p), heavy to 139p (104.6p). Heifers light to 103p (100.1p), medium to 143p (104.7p), heavy to 138p (110p). Bulls light to 107p (96.4p), medium to 122p (101.2p), heavy to 132p (104.1p).

Sheep: hoggs light to 132.9p (118.5p), medium 130p (116.6p, heavy 117p (110.1p). Ewes to £38 (£31.28).

Pigs: porkers to 106p (93.9p), cutters to 109.5p (92.9p), baconers 105p (88.2p), overweights 81.5p (76.9p), sows to 65p (57.7p), boars to 50p (45.4p).

THIRSK

At the weekly sale of prime stock, there were forward 2,564 head comprising 531 prime cattle including 213 young bulls, 1,880 prime sheep including 136 cull ewes, 153 pigs including 58 sows and two boars.

Cattle: steers medium to 108.5p per kg (98.4p), heavy to 125.5p (107.1p), heifers light to 121.5p, medium to 134.5p (114.2p), heavy to 145.5p (110.8p), young bulls light to 95.5p (86.1p), medium to 117.5p (91.6p), heavy to 124.5p (95.8p).

Sheep: hoggets light to 106.5p, standard to 123.2p (114.6p), medium to 133.8p (113.3p), heavy to 114.9p (107.9p), overweights to 107.5p (103p), cull ewes light to £32 per head (£23.98), heavy to £47.50 (£33.40).

Pigs: porkers to 95p (86.5p), cutters to 87p (80.1p), baconers to 76.5p, cull sows to 56.5p (52p), boars to 43.5p, (42.6p)

Latest prices at York Livestock Centre, Murton, included the following:

Forward were 215 head of store stock comprising 215 accredited cattle including one accredited dairy cow, four calves, 206 store cattle, 2+2 cows and calves.

Accredited cattle: Friesian cows newly calven to £570: Sim cow and calf to £460.

Accredited store cattle with prices to £572 per head: Charolais to £485 (ave bulls £379, steers £432, heifers £302). Limousin to £430 (ave bulls £342, steers £410, heifers £333). Simmental to £412 (ave bulls £362, steers £375, heifers £359). Belgian Blue to £572 (ave bulls £345, steers £488, heifers £455). Friesian to £340 (ave bulls £212, steers £304). Hereford to £488 (ave steers £389, heifers £200). Blonde d'A to £380 (ave heifers £316). A Angus to £440 (ave steers £427, heifers £269).
