Brewing company taps into award

Suddaby's Ltd, the Malton-based and privately-owned hospitality and brewing services company, has captured major awards in the 2005 SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers Association) Northern Beer Competition held in Stockport.

Against tough competition from some of the biggest names in the brewing world, Suddaby's marched away with first prize in bottled beers category with its Suddaby's Auld Bob and took second place in the Porter, Old Ales and Stout category sponsored by Thomas Fawcett and Sons with its Suddabys After Dark Coffee Porter.

Neil Suddaby, the managing director, said: "This is great news for the whole team at Suddaby's. 2004 was a year of great change for us as we have totally restructured our brewing operations and services, improved our performance in the hospitality side of the business at the Crown Hotel and launched our new speciality Beer and Wine shop, Malt'on Hops on the site.

''This is the icing on the cake for what has been a very successful year for our business."
