MALTON

FORWARD on January 26 were 142 cattle including 60 bulls, 658 sheep including 98 ewes.

Forward on January 26 were 103 cattle comprising seven store cattle, 41 calves, 32 dairy cattle, three plus three cows with calves, 20 in-calf, 106 sheep comprising 71 store lambs and 35 ewes.

Forward on January 31 were 268 sheep including 26 ewes. Hoggs horned to £42 per head or 98.7p per kg (96.1p), standard to £43.80 or 116.2p (113.8p), medium to £48.50 or 115.6p (107.6p), heavy to £52.30 or 101.4p (99p), overweights to £55.50 or 103.8p (100.4p); ewes, Suffolk to £21.50, Texel to £21.50, Mule to £32, swale to £12.

THIRSK

Forward on January 26 were 51 cattle and 10 ewes with 14 lambs at foot.

Sheep: Suffolk X ewes correct with Suffolk X lamb to £80, seven Suffolk ewes with 10 Suffolk X lambs to £80 per unit, Mule ewe (B/M) with Suffolk X twin lambs to £377, Texel X ewe (B/M) with Suffolk X lamb to £70.

Cattle: young bulls (9-11 months) BB X to £545, Lim X to £500. Suckler cows, Blonde X cows l/C to Blonde to £490. Heifers (9-12 months), BB X to £620, Lim X to £530, heifers (22-26 months), Lim X to £648, Blonde X to £530, BB X to £475.

Forward at the weekly sale of prime stock were 1,810 head comprising 489 prime cattle including 189 young bulls, 1,176 prime sheep including 184 ewes, 145 prime pigs including 55 sows and one boar.

Cattle: steers, medium to 117.5p (109.5p), heavy to 128.5p (109.6p). Top price per head £873.95, overall av 109.6p. Heifers, medium to 130.5p (106.2p), heavy to 142.5p (111.3p). Top price per head to £894.38, overall av 111.1p. Young bulls, light to 91.5p (90.1p), medium to 118.5p (95.1p), heavy to 121.5p (99.1p). Top price per head £839.90, overall av 98.6p.

Latest prices at York Livestock Centre, Murton, included the following.

Forward were 248 head of store stock comprising 41 calves, 207 store cattle.

Accredited store cattle with prices to £498 per head: Charolais to £498 (ave bulls to £250, heifers £373). Limousin to £472 (ave heifers £350). Simmental to £415 (ave heifers £312). Belgian Blue to £400 (ave bulls £400, steers £400, heifers £309). Friesian to £462. Hereford to £482 (ave steers £333, heifers £227). A Angus to £302 (ave heifers £235).
