MALTON

FORWARD on January 24 were 33 store cattle, 502 store sheep, including 15 breeding ewes. Prices: Ch heifers to £470 from P Lawson, Lim heifers to £575 from A&M Bower, Lim bulls to £470 from A & M Bower.

Sheep: Suffolk X lambs to £47.80 from Westheadland Farms, Tex X lambs to £47.50 from P D & S E Johnson. Mule lambs to £41.20 from M Blacklock. Overall average of store lambs £42.20. Ewes and lambs to £103 from A Temple.

RUSWARP

Forward on January 19 were 116 cattle comprising 104 store cattle, 12 calves, 206 sheep comprising 189 store lambs, 17 feeding ewes. Store cattle: Lim bulls to £500 per head, steers to £465, heifers to £400, Ch heifers to £408, Sim bulls to £490, heifers to £480, BB heifers to £400, Blonde bulls to £470, heifers to £332, Hfd bulls to £420, AA heifers to £460, Fr bulls to £365, steers to £460. Calves: Lim bulls to £170, BB bulls to £142, Fr bulls to £48.

Sheep: Hoggs, Texel to £56, Mule to £42, Masham to £37, Scot to £33, Swale to £27. Feeding ewes: Scot to £16.50.

Forward on January 24 were 34 cattle including three bulls and 627 sheep including 34 ewes.

Cattle: Steers, medium to 105.5p, heavy to 112.5p (103.8p), heifers, light 86.5p, medium 111.5p (107.5p), 122.5p (106.2p), bulls heavy to 107.5p (106.5p), B & W 91.5p.

Sheep: Hoggs, horned to £45 or 1045.3p (99.4p), standard £45 or 122.4p (114.2p), medium £48 or 117p (108.7p), heavy £50 or 101.7p (98.6p), overweight £54 or 93.9p. Ewes, Suffolks £38, Mule £31, Masham £28, Scotch £20.

SELBY

Forward on January 19 were 1,575 head of stock, comprising 352 cattle including 185 clean, 152 bulls, 15 cows, 538 sheep including 492 hoggs, 47 ewes, 685 pigs including 90 sows, four boars.

Cattle: Steers light to 150p per kg (117.5p), medium to 134p (110.3p). Overall average 107.9p. Heifers, light to 114.5p, medium to 134p (110p), heavy to 150p (115p), bulls, light to 134p (100.2p), medium to 141p (100.6p), heavy to 132p (105.1p).

Sheep: Hoggs, light to 129.7p (118.9p), medium to 138.9p (118.2p), heavy to 132.7p (112.5p). Overall average 118.1p. Ewes to £43 per head (£30.68).

Pigs: Pork to 89p (80.6p), cutters to 92p (80.1p), baconers to 93.5p, overweights to 74.5p (67.5p). Overall average 76.24p. Sows to 45p (42.9p), boars to 40p (37.5p).

YORK

Latest prices at York Livestock Centre, Murton, included the following.

Forward was 241 head of store stock comprising 20 calves, 2+2 stirks, 217 store cattle.

Accredited cattle with prices to £405: Limousin cow and calf BAH to £405.

Accredited store cattle with prices to £700 per head: Charolais to £520 (ave bulls £405, steers £418, heifers £353. Limousin to £700 (ave bulls £539, steers £462, heifers £330).
