Young farmers' club report

Kirkbymoorside YFC news.

ON November 24, members visited The Chocolate Factory at Hutton-le-Hole. An interesting talk was given on how the company makes chocolates and chocolate models. Katie Arundale gave the vote of thanks.

On the November 27, the club held its annual dinner and dance at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club, with thanks to the club for a lovely meal. The president, Annabel Strickland, said a few words about the golf club - she was then presented with a bouquet of flowers by Alice Turnbull on behalf of the young farmers.

The chairman, Stephen Eddon, gave a speech and remarked how well the club had done with fund-raising events. Annabel Stickland and Stephen Eddon presented prize cards and cups to 1st, Shaun Stephenson, 2nd Robert Cussons, 3rd Paul Simpson for junior stock-judging; 1st Adam Turnbull, 2nd Laura Dowkes, 3rd Rachel Scaling for intermediate/senior stock-judging. The best junior member cup went to Shaun Stephenson and best intermediate/senior member cup went to Richard Dixon.

Irish bingo was played; the raffle was drawn: 1st prize £50 "Scunner", 2nd prize luxury hamper D Leng and 3rd prize bottle of whisky E Collier. Other prize winners were Mrs M Britton, A Wilson, A Dowkes, A White, S Eddon, T Scaling, J Simpson, C Dixon, Mr M Wood, J Scaling, R Cussons, A Featherstone, N Scott, L Lumley, Mr R Feaster, Mr G Britton, M Reeves, S McWhirter, A Wilson, T Scaling, R Wass and C A Dowkes. A good night was had by all.

The group's Christmas party was at Fadmoor and the annual Christmas carol singing took place on December 22. The money raised was shared by the Air Ambulance and the Charity CRY.
