Get ready for Bikeweek

The Scarborough International Bikeweek returns to its summer slot for 2004, from June 26 to July 4.

The first weekend is devoted to the Vintage Motorcycle Club's parades and road runs. On Saturday, June 26, there will be a vintage parade of 100 bikes to Filey, starting at the Sports Pavilion on Oliver's Mount at 2pm.

On Sunday, June 27, the Vintage Club Festival of 1,000 bikes takes place at the Bikers Village on Oliver's Mount, where a concourse competition is planned and a parade of the circuit.

For the race enthusiasts, Pickering will be the place to be in the afternoon where the Pickering and District Motor Club are running a grass track event.

The Vintage Club will be running road rallies up to and including Thursday, July 1. The Auto 66 will be organising their annual breakfast runs across various countryside areas.

The Auto 66 speed events start on Monday, June 28, with a motorcycle speed hill climb at Dalby Forest. Dalby will also be the venue for Tuesday's hill climb when part of the Forest Drive will be closed for the event.

The first full day of action at Oliver's Mount takes place on Wednesday, with the Motorcycle Sprint at 10am, followed later by a supermoto and stunt show. Thursday sees the annual Oliver's Mount speed hill climb, which has attracted a super entry of vintage and classic bikes.

The big event of the week will be the Cock O' The North road races and classic race festival from July 2-4. There will be racing for all types of machines, with star riders from the classic era, as well as the modern-day stars. There will be practice and racing for the classic machines on the Friday and Saturday and modern machines on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday's programme will feature three classic races for the Syd Barnett and Denis Parkinson Trophies, the third one will be for the Classic Superbike Barry Sheene Trophy.
