Final-ball six clinches a tie for Harome

Ferversham League. FOR sheer entertainment and excitement, it doesn't come much better than the Harome versus High Farndale encounter, which saw a combined total of 358 runs scored and the match ending in a tie.

High Farndale's innings centred around the already-proven abilities of Brian Leckenby and Kevin Wilson. Leckenby ended agonisingly on 96no, when the overs expired, and Wilson compiled 52, as High Farndale reached an impressive 179.

Harome fought back bravely, none more so than the talented Phil Marwood, who effortlessly made 84. Needing a six to tie off the last ball, Harome's Luke Houlibeque duly performed the necessary heroics in a fantastic end to the match.

In contrast, Harome's home fixture with Gillamoor was a rather low-scoring affair. The main Harome batting performances came from M Haines (25) and James Greenlay (24) in their total of 89 for 6, with Gillamoor's P Strickland taking 3 for 16 from four overs.

Andy Paxton made 26 for Gillamoor, but his efforts were overshadowed by Harome's latest prodigy, young Josh Greenlay. In 4.4 overs, he took five wickets for just seven runs, which saw Gillamoor crash to 68 all out.

Slingsby's batting improved against High Farndale. Peter Stark (20) and Paul Daniels (14no) helped them to 65 for 4 after 18 overs.

There were two wickets for James Blacklock, and one apiece for Geoff Eborall and A Robinson. The total was not sufficient, as Brian Leckenby (41no) guided his side to a nine-wicket victory.
