Cricket's Ebb and flow

Kirkbymoorside 210 for 8 lost to Ebberston 211 for 7. EBBERSTON bowlers took the early wicket of Collier on a super wicket at Kirkby.

Bobby Brewer, promoted to number three, joined Martin Thompson. They consolidated and pushed the score to 45 before the latter fell.

This brought captain Jodie Robson to the wicket. Robson returned to form, regularly dispatching the ball over the A170, before finally falling for 60.

Brewer made 66, showing the faith given to him. They shared a 102-run partnership. Bayes and Gardner ensured Kirkby got full points on 210 for 8.

Paul Woodhead (4 for 59) mopped up when Kirkby looked to push on.

Ebberston started well, but wickets fell to Ward, Dobson and Collier, leaving them on 95 for 4.

However, Edward Craggs (44), Adrian Turnbull (30) and Steve Scott (32no) scored rapidly, dispatching some mediocre Kirkby bowling. Needing one from the final ball, Ashley Winspear edged two from Howard Mudd.
