Sheep stolen from moors

ANOTHER case of sheep rustling has been reported in North Yorkshire.

Malton Police said that 30 Swaledale gimmer hogs had been stolen from Sparton Moor, near Chimney Bank, Rosedale, sometime between May 10 and yesterday.

The animals had green markings on their shoulders and red markings on their horns. They were worth £1,800.

In a separate incident, 20 ewes in lamb, worth £2,000, were stolen from East Moors, Helmsley, between March 26 and April 7 and 20 sheep were stolen from a different site, also in the Helmsley area on May 6. It is believed that about 490 animals have been stolen in the North York Moors area in the last few months.

Thieves stole 300 gallons of diesel worth £240 after breaking into rural business premises in Rillington between May 10 and Wednesday.
