YFC show draws near

PLANS are well under way for the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFCs) County Show.

The event will be held on Sunday, June 6, at the Nidderdale Showground, Pateley Bridge.

The show, which was launched last year, incorporates the Young Farmers competitions day, where members from the federation's 50 clubs battle it out for supremacy in competitions including tug of war, line dancing, log sawing, sheep shearing, tractor handling, and arts and crafts competitions.

Attractions also include a climbing wall, inflatable slide, donkey rides, as well as displays by Harrogate MG Club, Ripon Old Cars, vintage tractors and much more.

The main ring will be busy throughout the day and includes demonstrations by Michael Davie, a falconry expert, as well as a gundog demonstration.

Elizabeth Johnson, county co-ordinator, said: "We are hoping to build on the success of last year's first county show."

The show opens to members of the public from 11am. Admission is £2.50 on the gate; under-tens are free. There is free parking and refreshments available to buy. For more information, contact Elizabeth on (01423) 865870.
