Ruswarp

Forward on May 13 was a record entry of 603 head of cattle for Ruswarp Market's 'May Day' sale of store cattle. An anticipated drop in trade failed to materialise with the usual large attendance of buyers keenly bidding for the quality cattle on offer. New vendors to the market were not disappointed with blue-carded steers, all bulls and strong heifers, very much in demand.

Cattle: Bulls on green - Lim to £560 per head (£470.60), Ch to £520 (£503.30), BB to £582 (£555), Blonde to £685, Sim to £500 (£490, AA to £535 (£458.30), Fr to £310 (£268.40); Bulls on red - Lim to £490 (£441.50), BB to £548 (£490), Sim to £520 £450, Fr to £340, Ch to £490. Steers on green - Ch to £660 (£501.50), Blonde to £550, BB to £605 (£548.50), Lim to £525 (£505); steers on blue - Lim to £665 (£519.80), BB to £472 (£416), Ch to £660 (£522.20), Sim to £325 (£322.50), Fr to £388 (£338.20); steers on red - Lim to £610 (£582.50), Ch to £575 (£555), Fr to £440. Forward on May 14 were 1,582 head, comprising 423 prime cattle including 168 bulls, 951 sheep including 294 lambs and 158 ewes, 208 pigs including 98 sows and 7 boars.

Cattle: Steers medium to 129.5p per kg (107.1p), heavy to 122.5p (104.8p), heifers light to 124.5p (119.5p), medium to 129.5p (103.4p), heavy to 147.5p (109.3p), young bulls light to 89.5p (79.2p), medium to 121.5p (93.5p), heavy to 118.5p (101.4p).

TOTALS for livestock auction and collection centre sales over the seven days to May 17.
