Teachers run into money

FIVE members of staff from Welburn Hall School entered the recent Kirkbymoorside 10K run to raise money for upgrades to the school's music and PE facilities.

Gloria Gill, Ann Bannister, Helen Skaife, Robert Jeffs and Dave Coram raised almost £700 towards refurbishing the school's music room and improving the changing and storage facilities for PE.

For some of the group, it was the first time they had covered the 10km distance.

The hot weather conditions made the run even more challenging.

School finance officer Gloria Gill said: "I have never run so far in my life, it was very hot and hard work, but the spectators were fantastic, supporting everyone from the first to the last."

Welburn Hall is a day and residential school supporting pupils with special educational needs.

Anyone interested in supporting the above project can contact the school on (01751) 431218.
