Rievaulx's starring role

POPULAR playwright Alan Bennett let an historic North Yorkshire abbey take centre stage when he returned to the region to film part of his latest show.

The Yorkshire-born writer travelled to Rievaulx Abbey, near Helmsley, to oversee filming of new play The History Boys. The play opens in London next month - and sequences from the picturesque abbey will feature at the start of the second act. The play features actor Stephen Campbell Moore as an idealistic young teacher who becomes a television history expert.
