Ryedale racers out in force at Thirsk

There will be no lack of Ryedale representatives bidding for an historic prize at Thirsk on Saturday.

The Thirsk Hunt Cup, sponsored this year by Hygicare, takes its annual pride of place on the end-of-April card, and the Easterbys, in particular, look sure to be strongly represented.

While Tim Easterby has Tough Love and Tedstale in the reckoning, his uncle Mick has a five-strong squad ready for action in Blue Spinnaker, Cat's Whiskers, Top Dirham, Strong Hand and Hills Of Gold, the latter having won at Ripon last Saturday.

Add to that team the likes Gem Bien and Dower House (Andy Turnell), Mister Arjay (Brian Ellison) and Qualitair Wings (James Hetherton), and there's every chance that this popular race, confined to 18 horses, and run over a mile, will have a Ryedale-trained winner. More difficult is deciding which one.
