THREE Ryedale doctors are preparing to conquer the Lake District's longest lake, steepest pass and highest mountain to raise money for a children's charity.
Dr Mike Lynch, Dr Douglas Taylor-Helps and Dr Andrew Harper, who all work at Derwent Surgery, Malton, will compete alongside elite triathletes in the Wooden Spoon Ford Ranger Great Lakeland Challenge on May 21.
Within 12 hours the trio have to canoe Lake Windermere, which is 10.5 miles long, cycle 26 miles over Wrynose and Hard Knott passe and finally climb the mighty 3,208ft Scafell Pike.
During the challenge, the team will be supported by friend Donald Low, of Malton.
The team have to raise £3,500 in sponsorship to take part and have appealed for local businesses to come forward
The event aims to raise more than £150,000 for Wooden Spoon, the charity of British and Irish Rugby, which helps disabled and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
