Turkish delight

THE Grand Turk has sailed into Scarborough Harbour where she will provide the resort with an early season tourist attraction for the next two months.

The ship, which featured in the television series Hornblower, had been in Whitby and will be returning there in August after visiting the French town of Brest.

The 22-cannon replica frigate attracted a large number of visitors to Whitby during her stay and it is now planned for her to spend the winter there next year.

Ships sounded their sirens as she sailed out of Whitby, and there was a similar reception when she made her way into Scarborough Harbour.

The Grand Turk is open to visitors between 10am and dusk each day until March 26.
