NATIVE breeds and conservation are the theme of an illustrated talk next week organised by The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group in North Yorkshire.
The talks will be followed by a local food buffet including Dexter beef and Jacob lamb, on Tuesday, January 20, at 7pm, at the Alice Hawthorn Inn, Nun Monkton.
Speakers will include: Phil Lyth, FWAG adviser; Paul Evans, native breeds and conservation and the Limestone Country Project; Richard Turner, Highland Cattle Society; Ann Poulsen, Yorkshire Exmoor Pony Trust; Sue Bragg, conservation grazing schemes in the Howardian Hills; Sam Blacker, Ainsty Farm Shop.
There is no charge, but please ring the FWAG office on (01609) 783632 if you are coming as numbers are limited.
In recent years there has been increasing interest in native breeds of farm animals and conservation of the genetic resource of native breeds. There is also growing demand for locally-produced food sourced from native breeds.
Organisers says the evening will explore these areas.
