  • £1,200 raffle fund split two ways

    MALTON and Norton Rugby Club handed over a cheque for £600 to the accident and emergency department at Malton Hospital last Saturday, having raised the money from a raffle held at the club's 50th anniversary ball in June. In total, £1,200 was raised, the other half going towards the John "Diesel Jack" Machin fund. This was set up three years ago in memory of former club member John Machin (no relation to the current chairman) to enable players to travel and play rugby abroad. David Cooke visited Australia last year, thanks in part to the fund. Current overseas player Australian Liam Vaughan has also benefited from the fund. read more
