The best of Yorkshire

VISITORS tasted local produce at a Ryedale museum during a celebration of Yorkshire food.

More than 200 people attended the event, organised by Moorsfresh, a Pickering-based wholesaler of Yorkshire-produced foodstuffs, at the Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole.

People could taste a variety of food, including sausages from Masham, Shepherd's Purse cheese from Newsham and cakes from Castlegate Bakery in Helmsley.

"The event is make people aware of how much good produce is on their doorstep and how good it tastes," said Lynn Rowley, of Moorsfresh. "One man said he had made it his ambition to find the greatest pork pie - and after tasting one from Jeff Boocock and Son, from Fylingthorpe, Whitby, he said he'd found it."
