THE Friends of St Joseph's School, Pickering, will be going frog-hopping mad next month to raise funds for a new extension.
They are holding a frog-hopping race night at the school on Saturday, November 8 (7.30pm start). The eight-race event is to raise money to extend the school building to improve key stage two facilities.
Chairwoman of the friends, Sarah Bulmer, said: "As the school has to find 10pc of the cost of any building work, we have quite a job on our hands, but are confident that with the support of parents and the local community, we will achieve our aim.
"Over the next two school years, we hope to have lots of fundraising events to this end and obviously want to extend a warm welcome to the whole community to come and join us."
Each wooden frog will be sent hopping down a line manipulated by a 'jockey'. There will be six frogs in each race.
Tickets cost £4 (including supper), frogs cost £3 to own and it will cost £1 to be a jockey. Tickets are available from the school office. A soft drinks bar will be available but adults can bring their own alcohol.
