Drawing up Howardian Hills plan

RYEDALE residents are being invited to have their say on plans to protect and enhance the Howardian Hills.

A five-year draft management plan, which will be published next year, has been drawn up by the Area Of Natural Beauty Unit after consultation with people who live in, work in and use the area, agencies and organisations who operate in the area and visitors.

A formal consultation period will run until December 1. A series of exhibitions have been set up as part of this consultation, to give people an opportunity to comment on the plan, its objectives and recommendations. They will run from 4pm to 8pm today at Brandsby Village Hall, tomorrow at Welburn Village Hall, Friday at Oswaldkirk Village Hall, Monday at Amotherby Village Hall and next Tuesday at Terrington Village Hall.

The final plan will be produced and presented to the AONB Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) for their approval in February 2004.
