Meet the book-a-likes

YOUNGSTERS have been dressing up as their favourite characters as part of a book week at Leavening Community Primary School.

Pupils were encouraged to read a wide variety of books, with the highlight of the week being a fancy dress day last Friday.

Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Peter Pan were just some of the characters that children dressed up as.

Poster and short story-writing competitions were also held as part of the week and were on display at a parents' open night last week. The library service also paid the school a visit.

Headteacher Lynn Markham said: "The week was about promoting the enjoyment of reading and the love of books. It was also about having fun. The standard of work the children produced was very impressive."
