Rosedale ensure no walk in the Park for Duncombe

RJF Homes Beckett League - First Division. A STUNNING second-half comeback by Rosedale meant Duncombe Park had to settle for a point in a six-goal thriller at Helmsley last Saturday.

Park looked like they were heading for an easy win after racing into a three-goal lead inside half an hour. Matt Dzierzek opened the scoring after four minutes with an 18-yard shot after good work by Jack Colman. The home side, who were playing uphill in the first half, increased their lead after 15 minutes. Colman was brought down and Craig Newton scored from the spot. Park went three up after 27 minutes when a right-wing cross by Dzierzek found an unmarked Jack Colman, who lobbed the keeper from 18 yards.

The second half was a different story as Rosedale fought back and could have even snatched all three points. Martin Myers pulled a goal back after 70 minutes with an 18-yard shot. John Tindal then became the Rosedale hero, scoring twice in seven minutes, after 80 and 87 minutes, to level the scores. In stoppage time, Rosedale almost won the game. Man of the match winners were Eddie Adamson (Park) and Martin Myers (Rosedale).

Aislaby United completed a league double at Thornton-le-Dale, winning 3-0. Will Emms scored after ten minutes following good work by Kenny Temple. Early in the second half, Aislaby keeper Colin Frank denied Dale's Mike Lealman on more than one occasion. Kenny Temple sealed the game for the visitors, scoring twice in the last five minutes. Man of the match winners were Jeff Quilter (Dale) and Pete MacGrath (Aislaby).

Kirkdale United won 4-1 at Old Malton thirds with an impressive display. Good work by Ashley Windress set up Chris Simpson for Kirkdale's first after 15 minutes. George Cooper equalised seven minutes later for Old Malton but Simpson restored his side's lead soon afterwards. A powerful header from Mark Langdale gave Kirkdale a 3-1 interval lead. In the second half, Ashley Windress capped a man of the match display with his side's fourth. Andy Raines was Old Malton's man of the match.
