Charity shop anger

A CHARITY shop manager has condemned vandals who smashed one of her windows.

Staff at the Multiple Sclerosis shop, in Birdgate, Pickering, returned to the premises after the weekend to find a pane in their Georgian window had been shattered.

"It's just mindless," said manager Jean Wardman.

"We've been here for ten years and this is the third time we've been hit. We had to empty the window display, which was full of electrical goods. There was broken glass everywhere."

The pane would have cost £120 to replace, but a charitable glazier from Alliance Glass, Malton, fitted it for half price.

The charity shop will celebrate ten years of fundraising for people in Ryedale who have Multiple Sclerosis by holding an event at the Memorial Hall, in Pickering, next month.

The event will run from 10am to 1pm on November 1.

There will be several stalls. Everyone is welcome.
