Jingle bells, jingle bells...

CHRISTMAS came early to Scarborough as the cast and crew of a Yorkshire TV drama filmed a festive special.

Actors from 1960s hospital drama The Royal have been filming scenes in the seaside town for the Christmas episode of the forthcoming third series.

While visitors to the resort enjoyed the last of the autumn sunshine, Scarborough's South Cliff was treated to an early white Christmas with several inches of fake snow lining the ground.

The snow is made from paper and blown into the air by a special machine to create that authentic winter's feel.
