Harvest celebration

LOCAL food is being celebrated in its all its glory at harvest festival time.

Today celebrations will begin at St Mary's Priory Church, Old Malton, in the church beautifully decorated with local goods.

The first service is to be held this evening followed by an open harvest supper, with festivities continuing on Sunday.

Donations are still being accepted to be handed out to the sick and elderly next week.

"All donations are gratefully received, including any flowers, greenery, fruit, vegetables or other gifts," said the vicar , the Rev John Manchester.

Gifts should bear a name tag and be handed to the vicar.

Today's service will be held at 7pm by Canon Terry Grigg, of Cottingham.

The harvest supper will be held after the service at the Priory centre. Celebrations will conclude with a special harvest family service on Sunday, at 10am, for parents and children, with harvest communion at 11am and Evensong at 6.30pm.
