On Wednesday, September 24, Kirkbymoorside YFC held its first meeting of the winter programme.

A total of 15 members attended the business meeting led at Church House, Kirkbymoorside.

Business discussed included past events, the treasurer's report and forthcoming events.

The club's annual dinner and dance will take place at the Forest & Vale Hotel, Pickering, on Saturday, November 1. Everybody is welcome. Tickets are for sale from Richard Dixon, Salton Grange, Normanby, YO62 6RJ, on (07940) 322887, priced at £20. The evening will include dinner, grand raffle, Irish bingo and dancing.

Help! Can anyone who has land that they would be willing to let Kirkbymoorside Young Farmers Club hold its annual ploughing match on please get in touch. The club has three dates that would be considered - November 30, December 7 or December 14. The club would require approximately 20-25 acres. Any offers would be gratefully accepted.

Ryedale and District

THE Young Farmers movement in Ryedale is once again up and running. After a busy harvest, members are meeting again to form their clubs and resume social and educational activites.

These are such events as stock judging, talks on various businesses and places of interest, just to mention a few.

Of course, the social aspect is now in full swing - with Young Farmers, there's always a dance or ball just around the corner.

Aged ten to 26? Have an inquisitive mind or an interest in the countryside? Why not find out what a club in your area has programmed for the weeks ahead. You don't have to have any farming background to join. Come to a meeting or two and experience what the organisation has to offer. You'll be surprised what you learn - it's a fantastic way to gain confidence, develop your character and social skills. Make new friends for life!

It looks great on your CV and makes a strong talking point at an interview, so go on, bring more sunshine into your life and join a Young Farmers Club.
