Fund that aids injured riders

ONE of the very worthwhile organisations involved in the equestrian world is the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund.

This national charity aims, through financial and other help, to assist those who were injured in an equestrian-related accident where other relief is inadequate or unobtainable.

The fund was established in 1988 by the parents of Mark Davies who died as a result of an accident at the Burghley Horse Trials.

MDIRF provides victims with expert medical, legal and financial advice. It has provided wheelchairs and special beds, adapted houses, helped with travel expenses for relatives to visit victims, provided stable help, indeed, help in a wide variety of ways.

The group is also involved in the welfare and safety of riders. For the latest advice regarding hat standards and assistance, ring Rosemary on (01483) 278494, or Jane on (01483) 277344.

To make a donation to help in the work of the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund, write to : Mrs M Somers, MDIRF office, 38 Regent on the River, William Morris Way, London SW6 2UT; or telephone (0207) 7361783; or e-mail maria.somers@dial.pipex.com.
