Conmen ransack home of elderly woman

THREE men conned their way into an elderly woman's home and ransacked her bedroom.

The men called at a house in Shaw Drive, Kirkbymoorside, at 5.05pm on Thursday.

They claimed to be removing a fallen tree and asked the woman to turn her water off.

Two of the men stayed with the householder and when they left she discovered the third man had searched her bedroom drawers and gone through two purses, leaving them on the bed. It is not known exactly what was taken.

All three were in their 20s and wearing dirty jeans and work shirts.

Two of them had black hair and the third had brown hair.

Anyone with information is asked to phone the Ryedale Witness Line on 01723 509662.
