Ryedale's summer fun festival launched

SUN-PACKED events have been promised for youngsters in North Yorkshire this summer - even if a few rainy days head this way.

The 2003 Summer Festival of Fun, run by Ryedale's Child and Youth Projects and the district council, promises to brighten the day for any youngster aged from four to 12 with a huge variety of events, activities and workshops.

Circus skills, breakdancing, tribal chanting and wild and wacky sculpture-making, as well as sports and games, are just a few of the activities on offer at venues throughout the district from Monday, July 21, to Friday, August 29.

"This year's festival of fun looks set to be the best ever," said Andy Brown, of the Child and Youth Project.

"We have packed even more into the programme of events and added loads of workshops at venues throughout Ryedale to make sure that there really is something for everyone."

Extra funding from Ryedale District Council and a close partnership with Ryedale Special Families have helped to make sure that young people with special needs can take part in every event.

Booking forms are available from Ryedale House by phoning 01653 600666 or from the Child and Youth Project on 01751 474747.

Events cost £5 per day with a reduction for second children from the same family or families on a low-income benefit.
