The voyage out with Sir Walter Ralegh

PICTURED are pupils from St Mary's RC School who are getting ready to set sail for this year's Ryedale Festival Community Opera.

With them is Em Whitfield, who will be directing the production of Tim Brooks's new musical Voyage of the Maris Piper.

Pupils from St Mary's will be joined on stage by youngsters from schools across Ryedale, while adults will also be part of the 55-strong cast.

The musical is a comedy centred around Sir Walter Ralegh, played by Nick Scott, and his final encounter with the Spanish Captain Da Silva, played by Robert Meinardi.

It will be performed at Malton School on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, at 3pm on both days. Tickets cost £5 for adults or £2.50 for under-18s. To book, ring the Ryedale Festival box office on (01751) 475777.
