School banks on show

AMATEUR dramatists in Ryedale will have audiences rolling the aisles this week - and helping to buy facilities for their local communities.

Wombleton Players has built up a reputation for staging successful productions since the group was set up three years ago, each year staging a pantomime and a summer presentation.

Its latest production, Womberang, described as a hilarious, adult comedy, by Sue Townsend of Adrian Mole fame, opens at the Memorial Hall, Kirkbymoorside, tomorrow night, before transferring to Harome village hall on Friday and Saturday, each night, starting at 7.30pm.

Margaret Makinson, the secretary of the 12-strong group of players, said that as a result of its productions it had provided computers for Nawton and Beadlam Primary School and new curtains for Harome Village Hall.

It is now planned to raise money to buy equipment for Welburn Hall School.

Tickets for Womberang, which is set in the gynaecology unit of a hospital, can be obtained either at the door or by ringing 01751 432558.
