A64 problem needs addressing

RE the comments made by Coroner Michael Oakley following the inquest of the American gentleman, about the closure of Barton Hill Junction on the A64.

This is a typical knee-jerk reaction to an accident, and not the answer to the problem. If Barton Hill is closed to prevent traffic turning right towards York, how does Mr Oakley think the many visitors to Castle Howard are going to get home?

If they came through Welburn, the junction with the A64 is far more dangerous than Barton Hill; as well as causing more problems in our already-busy village.

Barton Hill should not be closed, but made into a proper junction to enable traffic to filter in safely both east and westbound.

The A64 problem needs addressing at once. We do not need any more road shows or consultation meetings. What we, the people who use the A64 regularly, need is action now.
