Now that's what I call Brownie points!

BROWNIES have raised funds to buy equipment for Malton Hospital - and earned valuable Brownie Points for doing so!

The 24 members of the 1st Norton pack, helped by their parents and leaders, held a big sale of second-hand toys, backed up by a tombola and cake and other stalls, at the Brooklyn Centre, as part of their Intra Net 2003 Badge scheme.

Brownie Guider of the pack for 33 years, Mrs Diane Downing - officially known as Brown Owl - said the girls have to undertake ten challenges and the sale provided them with badge-winning opportunities by making sandwiches and cakes, as well as organising a toy sale.

"They were all very enthusiastic and worked extremely hard," said Mrs Downing, who now has the children of former Brownies in her pack.
