When Elvis came to Ryedale

IF you're in Malton Market Place on Saturday and happen to come across a number of Elvis lookalikes waiting for a bus - don't get all shook up.

They won't be getting the number 32 to Memphis, but they will be going on the North Yorkshire Elvis Bus Tour.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is Brawby arts venue The Shed that is behind thes wacky trip around Ryedale, which will be led by the Barnsley Bard, Ian McMillan.

The event has been lined up to celebrate the publication of All Shook Up, a collection of stories and poems by McMillan which has been specially commissioned by The Shed.

The tour will feature readings and plenty of improvisation from McMillan as the bus winds its way through the countryside, with the emphasis very much on the king of rock 'n' roll.

However, if you're fancying hitching a ride with Elvis, you'll be disappointed if you haven't booked. The tours (for there are two during the afternoon) have been sold out for months.
