RILLINGTON

British beef and top class rump were on the agenda on Tuesday, March 25. Easy girls, this wasn't anything to do with the club's talent, or lack of! Mr and Mrs Douglas, of Wray House Farm, gave the club kind permission to use their cattle for a beef judging evening in preparation for the rally in April. The master judge was Mr Beal, who gave pointers of what members should be looking for, then heard the club's serious, technical and humorous reasons for placement.

When giving reasons here's a few tips for all YFC members... when your notes are a shambles and misplaced in numerous pockets of your attire, don't despair! Use your head, add humour. Prime example - this is the way not to do it... "Good evening Master Judge, I placed the four beef cattle in the order of... well, you see I thought the first beast would be grand for Sunday lunch. Din't like look of that one, that one clashes with me hair and that one looked a bit mucky and it wouldn't stand still!" and when you think matters can't get any worse, ye chairman starts talking about chickens! Such a going on!

However back to the evening in hand, results as follows: the winner was Karl Moorland, 93 points, with Sarah Waterworth as runner-up with 91 points. A vote of thanks was given by Stuart Maw. The club would like to thank Mrs Douglas for supplying all with a fab supper. Once again, thank you to all concerned for making the evening enjoyable, it was very much appreciated.
