YOUNG artists from a North Yorkshire school have brought their village hall to life.
Foston School art club, an extra-curricular group for children aged eight to 11 at the school near Malton, designed and produced a Roman mural for the village hall.
The project was inspired to both brighten up the hall and give the children new experiences in art.
Group leader and class teacher Kath Pickup said: "We realised that we do not really introduce the children to large scale art work, so we thought this would be a good chance.
"The children loved making the figures, then they loved painting the background. When we put them together, they were blown away."
The scheme was greatly helped by the mother of one of the school children, four-year-old George Mitchell.
George's mum, Elinor Hogg, is a professional artist working from Flaxton, who is devoting some of her time to help develop the children's skills.
Their work is to continue. This week, they are tackling oil painting while, next week, print making is lined up.
Mrs Hogg said: "I really enjoy working with the children. I am hoping that they are going to carry on developing their skills like they have done so far, and I look forward to continuing working with them for as long as they need me."
