What is Mr Blair seeking?

WHY do we have to interfere in the Middle East? The tribes these have been bent on mutual slaughter since before Nebuchadnezzar either ate grass or let his fiery furnace and the 'odd stone' made the difference in the David versus Goliath match.

Why do we not let them get on with it?

Surely, Mr Blair, we have enough problems at home to attend to: NHS, rail and roads, drugs, crime, strikes, the judiciary, education, asylum seekers, flooding, the churches, the royals and Europe. They would tax even Solomon's wisdom. Also to quote (almost) Kipling:

"At the end of the fight is a tombstone white,

With the name of the late deceased,

And the epitaph drear 'A fool lies here

Who tried to hastle the East.'

Is the USA so desperate for oil? Or Spain for Gibraltar? And just what is Mr Blair seeking?
