School is top of the class!

AMOTHERBY school has been awarded a great feather in its cap as a place where staff are involved and encouraged.

The primary school head teacher Bob Audsley was told by an Investors in People auditor that it was one of the best she had come across.

Any organisation which employs people can work for the award. A series of criteria have to be satisfied involving commitment to staff, planning, action and evaluation. It took the auditor one-and-a-half days and 14 or 15 interviews with the school's staff to verify the key points in the way the school is managed.

Mr Audsley said: "The auditor said the school had one of the most positive feedbacks she had come across." The benefit of the award, said Mr Audsley, was that it endorsed the fact that the school was doing a good job. "It shows we support our staff and is a recognition the school is doing a good job for staff, parents and community."
