The final brew...

A POPULAR personality in Malton's Market Place has retired.

Mrs Rachel Lumley has run The Tea Garden for the past eight years, and worked there for 13 years.

With an increasing number of cafes in the town, it has become more difficult to make a living, she said. "I have seen several open in the past few years and two more are due to start in the next few weeks."

But says Mrs Lumley she has had a sound regular clientelle. "I am grateful to all my customers over the years who have been so supportive," she added.

The Tea garden was previously Moons clothes shop, and its new owner is Miss Georgina Jackson of Nunnington.
