East Riding Cup second round
Riccall 1, Malton Bacon Factory 10
MBF continued their blistering start to the season with their biggest win of the current campaign and their 11th consecutive victory.
Factory may have already beaten Riccall 5-0 in a league game earlier this season, but manager Wayne Read ensured his team did not lapse into complacency as they put in a thoroughly ruthless performance. Not that the players needed much motivating as competition for places is fierce, with all the squad having strong claims for a place in the starting line-up.
Riccall kept Factory at bay for 16 minutes before Simon Collins opened the visitors' account with a superb chip over the advancing goalkeeper after good work by Nathan Milner.
In the 26th minute, Nigel Allen was fouled in the area and Jamie Barker scored the first of his two penalties. The next 15 minutes saw chances for Darryl Craggs and Milner but both were unlucky. During this period, Wayne Hazel was substituted due to a back injury, which was unfortunate as he had made many overlapping runs on the left flank.
Tommy Oxtoby replaced him and continued where Hazel left off. Craggs' hard work paid dividends when he scored the third goal in the 41st minute.
The second half saw MBF take complete control. A Nicky Drew pass to Milner saw him brought down in the area and Barker made no mistake from the spot. Six minutes later, Allen ran from the half-way line and rounded the keeper before slotting home for his first and Factory's fifth.
The goals were now coming thick and fast. Only a minute later, Milner deservedly scored number six.
Nigel Allen then took centre stage, scoring his second, third and fourth in the 57th, 63rd and 85th minutes to round off a splendid display from an on-form striker.
MBF's 10th goal was scored by Drew before Riccall earned a consolation goal in the 91st minute.
All the squad performed magnificently but special mention goes to Nigel Allen for his goals and Jamie Hopwood and Andrew Thornton for their cool heads in the back four.
Scoring ten goals against another premier league side is no mean achievement and MBF are now looking to bring some silverware home this season.
