Swan soar again as Sailes double kills off Kirkdale

Black Swan, Pickering, recovered from their shock defeat at home to Sinnington the previous week with a 3-1 win at home to Kirkdale United. In doing so, they became joint leaders with Duncombe Park, who were on cup duty. Park remain top on goal difference.

Swan took the lead after 42 minutes when Mark Ainsworth squared for Simon Dale to score. In first-half stoppage time Kirkdale equalised with a penalty from Martin Charlton after Chris Wigley had fouled Ian Prendergast. The second half saw Swan secure the points with a brace from Steve Sailes' after 53 and 61 minutes, following good work by Chris Weighell on both occasions. Man of the match winners were Simon Dale (Swan) and Ian Prendergast (Kirkdale).

Aislaby United are third after a superb 4-0 win at faltering Rosedale. They took a tenth-minute lead through an own goal by Ben Adamson. This was followed by a Kian Brewster special. His free-kick hit the wall but he struck the rebound into the goal. Before half-time, Martin Carter crossed from the left for Colin Tate to head against a post, but Kenny Temple followed up to score.

In the second half, Rosedale pressurised Aislaby, but their defence held firm and the visitors grabbed a fourth through man of the match Kenny Temple. Ben Adamson impressed for Rosedale.

Union Rovers had their first league win of the season - a close 1-0 win at home to Sinnington, the goal coming from Andy Piercy in the first half. Man of the match winners were Nicky Piercy (Rovers) and Malcolm Hunter (Sinnington).

Amotherby and Swinton obtained their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at home to local rivals Old Malton thirds. The visitors took the lead midway in the first half, George Cooper finishing superbly from the edge of the box. Amotherby and Swinton equalised with ten minutes remaining when Sam Thackray volleyed home a pinpoint cross from Jonny Dunning, who gained his side's man of the match award, with Matthew Bulmer impressing in defence. Danny Bulmer and James Dawson were the key men for Old Malton.

Ryedale Hospital Cup

In the first round, Kirkbymoorside reserves beat Bagby and Balk 6-2 at home. James Whittaker fired the visitors in front but Kirkby hit back through Andrew Wilkinson, Chris Hodgson (2) and a first hat-trick for the club from former Slingsby star and man of the match Carl Biggins. Paul Fountain scored a second for Bagby and Balk for whom Geoff Fawcett impressed.

In the second division, Heslerton reserves had a massive 17-1 win at Black Bull, Thirsk. Ashley Cook and Curtis Drummond bagged four each, Matty Cass and Jerry Fields scored hat-tricks, Danny Cass notched twice and Bull also scored an own goal. Tom Kendall got Bull's only goal.

A stunning second-half comeback by Pickering Royal Oak at Thornton-le-Dale put them level on points at the top. Dale were 2-0 up after two first-half goals from Mike Lealman but Damon Cox, with a fine header after good work by Lee Thackeray and Adam Hornby, and Alex McCrae levelled the scores in the second half. Then Adam Hornby was tripped in the box and Oak man of the match Terry Davison converted from the spot to snatch the points for his side. Andrew Spittlehouse and Mike Lealman starred for Dale.

Gillamoor won their first game of the season 4-2 at Ryedale Sports Club reserves. Ryedale took the lead through John Reed with a far-post header after good work by Nick Woodhead. Early in the second half, Dan Broadbent equalised for Gillamoor but Ryedale regained the lead through a fierce Ian Horner drive. Gillamoor's Sam Robinson redressed the balance before he and Broadbent both grabbed their second goals. Man of the match winners were Paul Walker (Ryedale) and Danny Drake (Gillamoor).

York FA Junior Cup

Coxwold beat Norton United reserves 4-2 with goals from Robert Proudley, Jason Sargent and Russell Burn (2). Man of the match for Coxwold was Max Midgely. Ampleforth lost 7-3 at home to Wigginton Black Horse reserves, who scored five goals in the last 15 minutes. Dave Wallinger scored a hat-trick for Ampleforth. Duncombe Park lost a penalty shoot out 4-2 at Wilberfoss Reserves, whilst Slingsby lost 5-1 at Poppleton United reserves.
