NURSERY children at a Ryedale school spent the afternoon splashing around when a team of unusual visitors dropped in on their lessons.
Firefighters from Malton headed to Woodleigh Prep School, at Langton, as part of the nursery and reception pupils' project on the emergency services.
Teacher Claire Howitt said: "One of our topics this term has been people who help us, so that's why we had the fire brigade come to us.
"The children went inside the fire engine and had a go squirting the hoses - the firefighters were lovely and we had a really good time."
All 14 of the class were impressed with their new friends, Miss Howitt said, with a few vowing to become firefighters of the future.
"I didn't tell the children who was arriving before they got here," she said.
"I just said we had some very special visitors coming, so it was a real surprise for them when they got here."
