THIEVES forced their way into a Ryedale barn and stole four motorbikes worth almost £8,000.
The intruders kicked open a barn door in a farmyard in Kirkbymoorside and entered a back room by forcing open another door.
All of the bikes taken in the raid, which happened some time between 12.30pm and 3pm on Wednesday, were off-road trail machines.
The thieves took a silver Beta Rev 3 bike worth £2,500, a silver Scorpa bike valued at £3,000, a blue Scorpa 250 vehicle worth £2,000 and a white Yamaha Rev and Go bike worth £400, with the registration PW 50.
Sgt Mick Pounder, of Malton Police, said they were keen to talk to anyone who may have seen something suspicious.
"Obviously there has been a vehicle used to take away all four bikes, so we are interested in people who may have seen suspicious vehicles in the area," he said. "Also, if anyone may have seen four people riding around on bikes, we would like to talk to them."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Malton Police on 01723 509662.
Meanwhile, an opportunist thief stole a CD player and a tax disc from an unlocked car parked overnight in the owner's drive.
Thieves targeted the V-reg silver 170 Mercedes some time between 7pm on Wednesday and 7am yesterday. A Blaupunkt CD player and radio was taken from the car, which was parked on Maltongate, Thornton-le-Dale.
Garden shears taken from the owner's outhouse were used to cut through the wires to the radio.
